The goals of any contraceptive method are to be extremely safe, highly effective, easy to administer (self administration is preferable), easily reversible, and have little to no negative effects on either sex drive or satisfaction. While there are several options currently available for women that meet these criteria, men have relatively few options. Currently approved and used methods are spermicides, condoms and vasectomies. These options all have their pitfalls, however, but there is a great deal of research in the area of male contraception that holds promise for what may be available in the future. This website looks in depth at a few emerging and promising methods that could give men more control over their reproductive functions, while perhaps easing the burden that has been placed on women for such a long time.
